It’s 1971 and young Jack Bernstein is a struggling rock ’n’ roll manager in New York City. Instead of a fancy office in Manhattan, a flashy car and backstage passes, he operates out of a basement apartment in working-class Queens, driving a cranky eight-year-old Volvo as he trolls third-string venues for hidden talent. He suffers enormous betrayal when Manhattan agents or “sharks” steal his top talent. Jack financed a demo tape for his top talent by borrowing from a loanshark and pawning a friend’s guitar. When the tape fails to land a deal, Jack’s last hope is an offer from a friendly Queens mobster: manage his obnoxious nephew as best he can and doors will open. New York City in the late sixties and early seventies comes alive with all its intensity.

Alpha by John Henley
About Featured Book: Alpha by John Henley
Ian Ridgefield thought he was done with the military. He had completed more than he ever expected and did it at a level few will ever reach. Back home and taking care of his mother, even if she didn't ask for it, while quickly moving up the corporate ladder, his days of being a door kicker and dealing with sand rubbing his skin raw were further and further away.
When Washington D.C. turns into a proverbial hellhole, the Pentagon razed to the ground, within a matter of seconds, he is presented with a request that he isn't sure he wants to accept. This decision is even more difficult to make when a woman he hadn't thought about for more than a decade has entered his life and keeping it more than a little interesting.
Ian's code of moral justice may land him into legal trouble and the stand he makes to save the life of one while taking others, is difficult to offset for the community he lives in but can they agree to overlook it? When two people with more money and legal power than any duo in the country are willing to help ensure he stays on the outside of the Tombs in New York City it is a reality he has a difficult time accepting.
Will Ian, finally, find peace in life and chemistry with the woman of his dreams, or will the skeletons come crashing out of his closet and destroy the foundation he has worked so hard to create? Travel through the journey of treacherous deceit, ecstatic highs, military men standing up to corrupt governments, and men being an impenetrable wall between pure evil and the women they have sworn to protect.
The first book in a wonderful series highlighting the men and women who have, or do, serve in the military. This is not a stand-alone book.

WAGON TRAINS and SOILED DOVES into the Vastness
About WAGON TRAINS and SOILED DOVES into the Vastness:
Mary was orphaned when only 9 months old. Aokii’aki, an old Blackfoot Indian woman, was the only one Christian enough to take her in. They have a little room in the basement of Polly’s Paradise. Nice girls pointed and whispered when she walked by.
I liked the humor…Indians and whorehouses and the characters were developed to make the story fun. Also loved the old pictures. A fun story and fast read.
Joanhughs
This was a great book. Definitely not the Hollywood side of the west! That it was a diary found just by chance is even better. I believe I am going to make the vision of “into the vastness” part of my life. Thank you for including the pictures. Definitely recommending this novel to friends

The Safe Game
New Jersey, 1928.
The Cons – Roy, Urbane, and Victoria – made a living by separating fools from their money and rarely stayed in one place for too long. Keeping food in their bellies and a roof over their heads often meant hopping from one game to the next, barely staying ahead of the law or poverty and sometimes both.
That was until the day Roy – the Idea Man – thought he found a big score; one that would put the Cons on Easy Street. No more scraping by. No more hungry nights in the cold or picking pockets in desperation. Maybe even enough to get them out of this life for good. But things were never that simple.
When a tragic death brings the law snooping around, the Cons find themselves running afoul of cops, gangsters, and other powerful people – ones with secrets.
The Cons have gotten out of scrapes before, but their luck may soon run out and this particular game may end in luxury, a jail cell, or an early grave.

Addicted To Stupidity: a flavor of Consciousness By Voltwain
About Addicted To Stupidity: a flavor of Consciousness By Voltwain:
A Vermont farming family ponders the state of the world and decides to change it.
To All Those
Between the Rich on the Left
and the Rich on the Right
You are Invited
To Level the World
Welcome to Philosophy Farm and Truth Nursery. Come on in and think awhile with the Fini’s and their many friends, neighbors, farm patrons, and, yes, even enemies. The Finis are a three generation Vermont farming family whose daily habits are to laugh, think, farm, and work for the creation of the Common Good for the Good of All. Gramspa and Nina, political refugees of the Spanish Civil War fleeing Franco’s fascism, settle in Vermont, start Farm Filosofia and raise a son, Tiny. Tiny, a lifelong politician, farmer, and philosopher, marries fellow University of Vermont student, Ebie, who founds various social movements starting with a Stop Lying to Children campaign and including, but not limited to, Free Food For All and Flowers Not Firearms, which the entire family participates in. Choosing to stay, live and work on Farm Filosofia, Tiny and Ebie have two children, Filo and Sofi, who are raised in an environment of invented holidays, endless inquisitiveness, and boundless curiosity about why we are, how we are, and what can we become, as they grow up to continue Consciousness’ struggle against power, wealth, and religious rule.
Thoroughly examining the how and why America has become what it currently is, including much Vermont, as well as US, history, the Finis and their friends discuss perennial philosophical topics such as Free Will, Truth, Faith, Meritocracy, Economy, the Law, and the Origins of the Multiverse in their pursuit not only of the Good Life, but of becoming the Good Citizen of Consciousness. Follow the family’s adventures from war torn Barcelona to lie tattered America, as they hold Talk Shops in Trum de Tokeville, create new holidays, interact with the Garage Gang, stump for Human Rights, examine the ‘State of Stupid’, set up a global experiment for the proof/disproof of a God’s/simulator’s existence, and ultimately challenge the powers that be and the reason they are in a worldwide movement known as The People’s Lobby, which culminates in The Great Reveal – all from the observational point of view of Filo, who, like his father, has always lived on Philosophy Farm, dedicating their lives to maintaining its tradition as a Truth Nursery. Warm, funny, provocative, irreverent, honest, humble, controversial and courageous, this “Last Great American Novel” is a beautifully written and hilariously insightful contemporary masterpiece that crafts an intricate argument that clearly explicates what is wrong with America and how it, and the world, can be fixed.
“Vermont’s response to Hillbilly Elegy is Mayberry WTF.”

Is love the most revolutionary of all acts?
Is love the most revolutionary of all acts?
In this wide-ranging collection of twelve short stories, a startling array of characters explore their perspectives on love. The stories sweep from sharp realism to heady allegory, haunting fables to sci-fi thrillers, starring teens and drifting husbands, futuristic automatons and talking dogs, gardeners and gatekeepers, a blind girl, a young father, and many more.
In “Calamity Jane,” see love through the eyes of teenage boys obsessed with the calamitous girl of the title; revisit the famous Greek love story in “Orpheus and Eurydice”; Dan’s mechanical automaton seems to be his truest friend in the harshly conformist world of “Automatonomatopoeia”; a Crimean revolutionary gets waylaid at a mysterious gate in “The Invitation”; on a construction site in Yugoslavia, a young man tries to come to grips with unconventional fatherhood in “Vikings”; and in “The Conversation”, a blind woman manages her relationship with a hectoring mother while finding other types of love.
These are just a few of the tales in Resistance, Revolution and Other Love Stories. Anyone interested in the struggle against stifling societal powers and the potency of love will see some of themselves in these pages. By turns exciting, meditative, and funny, these enjoyable, thought-provoking stories will linger long after the book is closed.
Let the revolution begin!
