Author Bio:
Kathy Widenhouse is a content writer who specializes in writing for faith-based organizations and the nonprofit market.
She was always been a reader, but began writing in earnest in 1996 when planning for a second career after serving in the military. (Kathy spent 20 years as a flutist with “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band in Washington, D.C., before turning to writing full-time.) A letter in her mailbox invited her to take an online article-writing course. Soon she was earning periodical bylines and book contracts. When Kathy turned to content and copywriting, her years of volunteer work and time on four nonprofit boards drew her to the nonprofit niche.
As she began partnering with small to mid-sized organizations as a development writer and a freelance Christian writer, Kathy discovered that many of them struggle in the communications arena – most often because staff members wear too many hats. She learned that by providing good information and reliable service for these committed professionals, they are able to develop effective communications, build their donor base, and grow.
Along the way, 100+ articles with Kathy’s byline have appeared in more than 40 periodicals, both print and online, and her 7 books now number more than 100,000 in print. Today, she invests time as an online information publisher and in helping nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and ministries have great writing for their organizations.
She and her husband Brett have two terrific grown children and a wonderful son-in-law. They live in Lake Wylie, SC (outside of Charlotte, NC) with Brio, their golden retriever.
And … she is still a reader.
