Dr. Melita Murray-Carney was born in Washington DC and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. She is a wife of 28 years and a bonus mom of two. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25 years of experience in positive and health psychology.
Dr. Murray-Carney obtained her undergraduate degree from Howard University and her master’s degree and doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park.
She specializes in working with veterans with spinal cord injuries, helping them achieve the best quality of life possible, and has been featured on local radio and religious television programs, speaking on topics such as stress management and self-care.
Her hobbies include listening to gospel music, journaling, traveling, and spending time in nature. She is passionate about food and has a good sense of humor. Her goal is to inspire optimism and gratitude and motivate people to invest in self-care. God is the center of her joy, and she lives by the mantra, “God first!”
