About The Sussex Pond Murder by Richard Sorapure:
In “The Sussex Pond Murder”, Richard Sorapure weaves together an intricate narrative that mesmerizes readers with its domineering sense of suspense and mystery. Set in the enchanting countryside of Sussex, this novel introduces readers to a quiet, seemingly peaceful village. However, beneath this façade of tranquillity, the ominous shadow of an unspeakable crime starts to loom. When an unrecognizable body is brutally discovered in the local pond, the tranquillity is shattered, unveiling a labyrinth of secrets that had been meticulously buried by the unsuspecting villagers. With a lack of witnesses and bare minimum evidence, the gripping narrative unfolds into a world-class detective thriller, leading us into the chaos that swarms under the belly of the rural paradise. Taking the central positioning in this well-crafted tale is gentleman detective, Martin Harbottle. Under his steadfast determination and acute attention to detail, Harbottle brings a fresh perspective to the case. Each character unveils with richness and depth as Harbottle untangles a web of lies, suspicion and murderous intent, exposing raw humanness shadowed by animosity and desperation. Richard Sorapure masterfully constructs a plot that embraces classic ‘whodunit’ elements, while adding twists that keep readers guessing until the very end. The author vividly colourizes the world within the pages of “The Sussex Pond Murder,” blending the serene rural landscapes into raw, chilling crime scenes. “The Sussex Pond Murder” fiercely engages the readers, testing their deduction skills, wrapping them in a shroud of mystery and suspense. Enclosed within these pages, one not only finds a murder investigation but also unearths a commentary on human psychology and the dark secrets a quaint village can harbour. Such is the allure of this narrative; it leaves you questioning everyone and trusting no one. An integral battleground of wits, this book is destined to inherit a broad landscape in the reader’s mind, making it a recommendation for the lovers of classic detective narratives with a modern twist.

Author Bio:
I am a semi-retired geologist and geophysicist. The Sussex Pond Murder is is my second book and is the prequel to Hostage to Freedom: The Search for the Siren published on Amazon in May 2021. The same characters, Michael and Julie appear as their younger selves in this book which is set in the UK in Sussex, Hampshire, London and the Highlands of Scotland in 1983 as to opposed to the Far East for my first novel. Both are stand-alone novels and there are no plans, at this stage, to write another book to cover the missing years in-between. Whereas my first book was an Action thriller this new book is hard to classify by genre as it is bit of Mystery Fiction, Suspense/Thriller, Action and Techno-fiction. I think both books are a gripping read with loads of surprises.
