In 1930, John Maynard Keynes wrote “Economic Possibilities for our Grandchildren”, predicting an age of leisure by now. So why are many struggling in a world that’s getting richer? Why is there so much inequality? Shouldn’t the free market make it easy for you to convert your labour into what you want? These are some of the questions posed in The People’s Economics. It doesn’t have all the answers, but it does show where economics ought to go to find the age of plenty which is within our grasp.

Author Bio:
Following a PhD in Mathematical Quantum Theory, Stephen worked as a self employed computer programmer, when his work included writing compilers and management training software. His books are an exploration of various topics loosely related to economics – why aren’t we living the life of ease promised by Keynes in the 1930s? – whilst trying to avoid the simplistic idea that everything would be OK if only ‘our’ group were in power. He lives in Oxford.
