What first inspired you to write?A. It was when the pen replaced my pacifier.Q. What genre do you like writing most, and why?A. Literary fiction. However, I have always had a vivid imagination and never outgrew it. If I can invent it in my mind, I can write it. As I also care deeply about people and the rest of creation, my main genre became literary fiction blended with inspirational fantasy. My totally human characters may discover an angel walking with them side by side. Or that they’ve seen a vision. Or that they’re in another realm. Or that what just occurred defied explanation.Q. What do you most hope to accomplish in your works?A. To encourage others to find and hone their own attributes and talents, to keep at it, and to share.

As written beneath her yearbook photo, Class of 1970, the expressed lifetime goal of the author herein known as Myrtle Brooks, is: “to realize the love present in everything.”
Author of “The Geyser Girl of Yellowstone Park,” “Songs to New York,” “Stories of the Mother Bear,” and “Songs I Heard the City Sing,” she was born in Manhattan and spent her first two years in Jackson Heights, Queens, before moving upstate. The year 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of her return home to New York City.
When not at home in her beloved Brooklyn, N.Y., she may be headed for national parks and places of quiet beauty.
