About Race Against Ace:
At the Royal Academy of Marvellous Adventures (RAMA), the high-flying ‘ACE’ class conducts a life-changing experiment. Under the guidance of Professor Bristow, students try to create the perfect human being. Billy Gronbeck, RAMA’s star pupil, wonders if the experiment is ethical. Should the class be tampering with human existence?
Billy’s life is already different from that of most of his peers. As a young carer for his father, he is selected to look after Ace, the class’s creation. Despite his best efforts to keep Ace a secret, Billy soon finds himself grappling with issues; trust, betrayal, and moral integrity. The experiment may have worked, but little thought has been given to the aftermath.
Race Against Ace deals with issues and topics that many children currently face, such as friendship conflicts, bullying and risk-taking. The novel delves into the experience of being part of something that seems thrilling, yet comes with its own set of consequences.

Author Bio:
Laura Roso is a dedicated and passionate educator and performing arts specialist. She is currently working as a secondary school drama teacher, inspiring students to reach their full potential, using their imagination and creativity. As a drama teacher, Laura has written numerous scripts and directed many productions, which has enhanced her ability to be an exceptional storyteller. Her wealth of teaching experience has given her plenty of insight into the interests of her target audience for Race Against Ace.
As well as teaching, Laura is actively involved in the performing arts industry. Her entertainment career to date includes working as a Deputy Cruise Director for P&O Cruises and hosting events such as the Wakakirri National Story-Dance Festival. She has taken part in other events that include the AFL Grand Final Parade, Moomba Festival and Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight. She has also appeared in numerous television commercials and programs such as ABC TV’s drama, The Newsreader.
Laura’s vision in publishing her first novel (Race Against Ace) is to inspire children to read. She hopes the story’s message and funny, quirky, yet realistic characters will appeal to young readers everywhere.
