Linda Bessellieu is a self-published Indie author of the fiction and nonfiction children’s standalone picture book for early readers series My Protest. Tawana Bessellieu and Jaliyah Bessellieu-Webb are co-authors. The first book, My Protest, came about when our youngest author, my granddaughter, a four-year-old child, attended a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest during the height of the pandemic and the George Floyd incident. My Protest won a Distinguished Favorite Independent Press Award & rated 5 Stars from Readers’ Favorite. Tawana, Jaliyah’s mother, and I continued to author my granddaughter’s stories. Jaliyah is now seven years old. Our stories focus on personal and critical issues that affect children. We keep our stories authentic. This helps parents and teachers of young children understand what and how they feel about issues that affect them. It helps other young children identify with the author. We have two additional books. My Protest and My Protest: If I Could Peek Into Heaven … To See What My Daddy Is Doing.
