“My name is Merkim, and I come from the sea.”
In 1850, a struggling Irish farmer happens upon a young woman washed ashore on a desolate beach and nurses her back to health. Little does he know who she really is, but in appreciation for his help, she rewards him with a sacred gem and a promise. A promise that a hundred and fifty years later threatens to destroy an entire American family.
The tale flows from that lonely Irish beach to the mountains of the western United States and then deep beneath ocean waves to the mythical realm of Tir fo Thuinn. There, a mad king awaits, and his wrath over Merkim’s Promise spares no one, neither faerie or human.
