Author Bio:
Douglas Metcalf Curran was more than just a name; he was a melody that danced through the lives of everyone he touched. Born on January 14th, 1942, in Washington DC, Doug’s journey began with a powerful presence, both in stature and spirit.
From his early days singing in the Methodist church choir to his unforgettable performances with The Lettermen, Doug’s passion for music and the written word was as boundless as his love for his family. His marriage to singer Mary Colleen Fitzsimmons was a burst of romance, leading to a lifetime of cherished memories and shared harmonies.
As a father, Doug found his greatest joy in the laughter and love of his eight children and their families. Beyond his role as a beloved patriarch, Doug’s life was a symphony of experiences, from his service as a missionary with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in South Brazil to his tenure at BYU-Hawaii, where he shared his passion for music and literature with students from around the world. Truly a lifelong learner, Doug held a Bachelor’s degree in English and earned two Master’s degrees, one in English and the other in American Studies.
