Author Bio:
Serena Haeuser; a graduate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S in Child Development and Family Relations, co-owner of a childcare center, author, and mother; founded C.A.R.E in 2017. Her passion lies within our youth, and making a difference in the community. A “change agent” is what she calls herself. Serena was inspired to begin C.A.R.E while interning for Public Allies in Washington, D.C., which is a multi city nonprofit. Every day on her commute to and from work, she took note of the massive homeless population. Under every bridge, she would see over 20 tents. Our team began research and soon learned that police officers would often kick individuals out of their tens, and people were getting killed under the bridges. She asked herself what could she could do to help.
For the few weeks that Serena undertook the mission in D.C,; and from the conversations that she was able to have with community members; she noticed how grateful these individuals were. Not only to receive hygiene items in a bag, and words of encouragement; but to just be heard. From that moment on, she told herself that she would never stop being a light.
“C.A.R.E is important to me because there are many people in this world ready to give up, or let difficult times get the best of them. I want to — and will — make a difference in this world. There are people out there counting on me, and people who are looking up to me. I cannot give up. The mission of Continuous Acts to Restore Encouragement is to instill positivity, warmth, and, encouragement while restoring individual’s feelings of love and care..worldwide.“
