Doorways Unforeseen by Mark Fuller Dillon

Doorways Unforeseen by Mark Fuller Dillon

Doorways lead to nightmares in prose and verse. Fear a bone-white church in a dead town of the captured and collected. Fight to escape from a barren farm where floating figures mob and kill. Steal into a cedar forest where a creature from the sky reaches out to shatter souls.

“DOORWAYS UNFORESEEN opens the door for the reader, and entices the reader in, with the collection of horror and paranormal stories…. I am a big fan of Mark Fuller Dillon and read whatever this author writes. Each story or poem is unique, and paints a picture of a story, no matter the format. A picture is worth a thousand words, but each word is worth so much more. One of my favorites that I kept coming back to is ‘A Flimsy Vinyl Door.’ Something about it, just made me read it repeatedly. And when I finished the book, I went back to that one.”
[Amys Bookshelf Reviews, Goodreads]

“It’s been my experience that the writers who write for themselves are the ones who ought to be read most by us. Mark Fuller Dillon is no exception. Mark wrote DOORWAYS UNFORESEEN because it was in him to write. He wrote it the way he did, in iambic pentameter, because that is exactly what he wanted to do. It sounds simple, but it isn’t. It’s actually difficult and quite gutsy. Of course, as is Mark’s habit, he wrote each word, each poetic phrase with the careful precision of a master craftsman. Like an Oulipian working within the confines of constraint he has managed to tell us truly terrifying tales. ‘They Collect,’ and ‘A Flimsy Vinyl Door’ in particular left me (and leave me still) both genuinely unsettled as a reader, and envious as a writer for whom poetry has remained an ever elusive talent. Rest assured that poetry has not eluded Mark Fuller Dillon.”

ROAD TERRORS By Andy Kumpon & Gary Malick

About ROAD TERRORS By Andy Kumpon & Gary Malick:

The open road has always promised freedom, adventure, and escape. But some journeys lead to destinations far darker than any map could reveal. In this collection of six interconnected tales, highways become hunting grounds, and every mile marker counts down to terror.

When narcissistic Don Calhoun encounters a mysterious beauty in a vintage Pontiac, he discovers that some attractions are literally deadly. Susan Windeler confronts the ghost of her sister on the same stretch of highway where guilt and secrets collide with supernatural justice. Tyler Davis stops to help a lost child on a desolate mountain pass, only to learn that some passengers carry darkness older than the roads themselves.

Bus driver Raymond Mercer uncovers a corporate conspiracy where autonomous street cleaners prowl the night, eliminating society’s “undesirable” elements under the guise of urban improvement. Devon Barnes downloads a mysterious rideshare app called Nightride, discovering that some rides extract far more than payment, they harvest human consciousness itself. And when mechanic Stan Hepburn agrees to work late on a vintage hearse, he finds himself caught between the world of the living and the dead.

These stories explore how modern convenience can mask ancient evils, how guilt can manifest as supernatural terror, and how the infrastructure we depend on might depend on us in ways we never imagined.

On the darkest roads, evil isn’t just around the bend. It’s the journey to your end.

Kole is a recently paroled prisoner living in the ghetto. He’s attacked and turned into a vampire but saved by a female vampire that asks for his help in finding someone named Tempest. Kole’s savior is named Camilla, and she tells Kole of some prophesy that claims Tempest has been reincarnated. On Tempest’s upcoming 18th birthday, she will remember her past life and her magic skills in that past life. In her past life, Tempest conjured a spell that allowed vampires to walk in sunlight. Camilla tells Kole that the only thing keeping the evil vampires from controlling the world is sunlight. Camilla wants to find Tempest and stop her from sharing that spell with anyone. But many other vampires want to find Tempest and have her perform the daylight spell on them.
Kole ends up finding out that Tempest is actually just an innocent 17-year-old kid and he chooses to help her escape after she’s nearly killed and turned into a vampire. Together they flee across the world from vampires, werewolves, ogres, witches and other supernatural beings that either want to kill her and keep her from sharing the spell or force her to use the spell on them.
When Tempest turns 18, she does regain her past life memories and sorcery skills. She performs the daylight magic spell on Kole and herself, so they can travel during daylight. Tempest then takes them through a dimensional doorway to another planet to escape all the supernatural beings that are after them on Earth.
On the new world there are monsters of all sorts from dragons to dinosaurs and lots of primitive violent humanoids, including giants. The pair find themselves involved in another war there between different humanoid species.

Murders in Magazines

About Murders in Magazines:

Murders in Magazines
By Tom Kropp
During 2025, Horror Zine, Freedom Fiction Journal, Short-Story Me, Churches, Children and Daddies, Down in the Dirt, Dark Harbor and Flash Phantoms magazines published my twenty short stories included in this book.
Be warned, these are all violent, action-packed, gritty, crime and horror stories with some explicit sexual content.
I am including these exactly as they were sent to the magazines, so readers can see how my submissions looked when the magazine editors read and accepted them. My stories all received great reviews by the magazines’ readers and many of my stories were republished as a result.
I personally enjoy reading and writing short stories more than I do full length novels. I know there’s many of you out there that feel the same way. This book is for you.

MOST OF MY AUDIOBOOKS AND EBOOKS ARE FREE AT GOOGLE PLAY BOOKS AND SMASHWORDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS. HAPPY READING.

Astral Vampires

About Astral Vampires:

Free at Google Play Books Tom Kropp’s eBook and audiobook Astral Vampires
The characters in this book were first published as short stories in such well-known magazines as Horror Zine, Down in the Dirt, Churches, Children and Daddies, Freedom Fiction Journal, Dark Harbor, Short-Story Me and Chiron Review.
Kropp’s story moves with cinematic intensity, weaving hardboiled realism with ghostly suspense. Every page pulses with tension as Scot navigates a world where moral lines blur, and the dead are often more honest than the living. Through crime, corruption, and otherworldly encounters, the young psychic becomes both hunter and hunted—forced to confront not only humanity’s darkest impulses but the haunting cost of his own gift.
“Homicide Crimes is about more than solving murders,” says Kropp. “It’s about redemption, purpose, and the power of justice—even when it comes from beyond the grave.”
Fans of supernatural thrillers and gritty noir fiction will find Kropp’s writing both visceral and thought-provoking. The story balances high-octane action with emotional depth, exploring how trauma, guilt, and survival shape the human spirit. In Scot, readers find a deeply complex protagonist—vulnerable yet unbreakable, lost yet determined to bring light into the shadows.
Homicide Crimes stands out as a powerful blend of paranormal mystery and crime fiction, creating a new kind of hero for readers who crave intensity and meaning in equal measure. With sharp dialogue, relentless pacing, and a chilling atmosphere, Tom Kropp crafts a story that grips the reader from the first page and never let’s go. Part ghost story, part crime thriller, and entirely unforgettable, Homicide Crimes asks the ultimate question— what if justice doesn’t end with death? Kropp’s series continues with Homicide Crimes, Predators Made Prey, Murderous Malevolence, Astral Vampires and Poetic Violence.

Grief in Beeswax

About Grief in Beeswax:

Lighting a memory candle allows you to relive any day of your life, but the wax is made from days you have not yet lived. A mother uses it to see her dead child, each viewing per inch burned shortening her future by a year. She has three inches of candle left and a lifetime to decide.

Six inches of candle, one inch a year of life per flame.
Light it: your past unwraps like newsreel nitrate—every scent, every syllable mirrored in the hazy flicker of a flame.
Blow it: a year you haven’t lived peels off the end of your story.

Mara’s son is dead at five years old from a pointless accident. She’s watched him laugh, run, breathe again… and again… and again.
Now the wax is a child’s finger, the wick a heartbeat. Thirty memories, maybe twenty, maybe ten.

Outside, the world turns on without her. Inside, she balances the candle like a loaded gun, counting birthdays she’ll never see against the dimple of a boy who will never grow.

Yet as she keeps burning she must choose: try and move past the dark years ahead hoping to heal an ache as old and known to mothers as time, or strike the match and meet her child one last time—knowing the final flare will swallow every tomorrow she has left.

Love is measured in melted wax.
And the night is almost gone.

Lovers’ Leap by Rikki Goodwin

Lovers’ Leap by Rikki Goodwin

Running an allegedly haunted bed & breakfast sounds a lot more fun to Hazel than her current dead end job, but a trip to inspect a property with her three best friends has unearthed way more ghosts than she was willing to deal with…and only some of them are hers.

Hazel is surprised but pleased when her high school sweetheart Finn suggests they and their significant others go in together on purchasing a B&B, but their weekend trip to visit a potential property has a rocky start. The current elderly (and bizarre) owners seem to take issue with their presence. Dizzy spells plague her and…was that a person she just saw in the mirror?
Both her boyfriend and Finn’s wife are also having a hard time coping with the creepiness of the place. They’d all assumed “haunted” was only a marketing strategy. Perhaps not. Finn, though, is resolute they’re overreacting, and insists on moving forward with the purchase, despite their misgivings. The expansive property might not be big enough to house both Finn and Hazel’s clashing personalities, or the secrets they’ve been keeping from each other.
They’ll have to put those issues aside though, when both of their partners suddenly start behaving erratically. Are they sick? Are they just tired of Finn and Hazel’s bickering? Or is something more sinister going on?
Fans of “So Thirsty” by Rachel Harrison and “Lucy Undying” by Kiersten White will enjoy “Lovers’ Leap” by Rikki Goodwin

Legend Has It by DJ Slater

Legend Has It by DJ Slater

Soon-to-be college graduate Seth McCartney finds his love for his favorite October pastime – visiting haunted house attractions – fading. No matter what he does, he can’t recreate the thrills he felt as a kid and teenager. His best friend and fellow horror enthusiast, Peyton Fischer, has already moved on from this tradition and wants to help Seth do the same, but not without one final hurrah.
Over the years, rumors of an extreme haunted house have repeatedly surfaced, yet Seth has never been able to find it. The fabled place has ten stories of unrelenting horror from trap doors, hidden threats, and “actors” that can not only touch you, but remove you from the house. Each level becomes more challenging the higher you go, and only a select few have made it to the exit on the top floor.
Intrigued, Seth and his friends follow a lead to the elusive haunt’s doorstep. It’s everything Seth could’ve imagined to rekindle his passion. A foreboding atmosphere. High-end set pieces. Realistic effects. But there’s a reason this locale has a frightening reputation, especially when its hallways contain the depths of true terror and survival isn’t guaranteed.
Fans of “Hide” by Kiersten White, “The September House” by Carissa Orlando, and “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson will enjoy “Legend Has It” by DJ Slater.

Prickle by E.K. Larson-Burnett

About Prickle by E.K. Larson-Burnett:

Duscha tattoos the strange and the sacred in a cramped studio off Tverskaya Street, guided by a magic she barely understands. The ink—chudo-kraska, her babushka calls it—has always lived in her blood. But lately, it’s been acting on its own.

Clients come in asking for wolves, saints, symbols. They leave with something else entirely. Designs that twist. Changes that burrow deep. Duscha tries to control it, to cleanse the space, to carry on. But the hunger is growing—hers, and the ink’s. And the bodies it marks are no longer just canvases.

They’re doors.
