Homicide detective by day. Vampire hunter by night.
In the real world, vampires don’t turn to ash when they’re killed. No, they leave a rotting corpse behind, nearly indistinguishable from a human one. Which makes my day job even more awkward. Nothing like investigating a homicide where you’re the killer.
Either way, it’s a job that needs doing. Especially as the supernaturals begin pouring into my city. Because, apparently, I have quite the bounty on my head.
And that bounty leads to me fending off the reaper every time I turn around.
Then he shows up. My enemy. And the sexiest man I’ve ever seen. The decision should have been an easy one. After all, life-debts between vampires and hunters don’t exist in my world.
Until now. He claims to need me alive. I’ve nearly died three times in the last twenty-four hours, which is unusual–even by my standards.
My life seems to have an expiration date, leaving me with an impossible choice. Trust the enemy who claims to be in my corner or face the entire supernatural world alone.
Rock, meet hard place.
