This character-driven novel encompasses psychological mystery and suspense in a genuinely unique manner with spoiler alerts every step of the journey. Themes related to sexuality, LGBTQ+, HIV/AIDS, hospice, infidelity, and a little kink are explored in a partially epistolary format, and in the subtle dialogue between Letty Mae and the characters with whom she interacts.
By all outward appearances, she’s just a typical woman going through menopause at the turn of the 21st century. Living in a stale and distant marriage, her grown kids living their own lives, there is a psychological and sexual itch she hasn’t felt in years that needs to be scratched. What are the secrets this Executive of a Hospice nonprofit keeps? Even she doesn’t know for sure –
Set in the San Francisco Bay Area in the year 2000, her journey explores meaning through death, erotic adventure, mystery, and those thoughts and actions we’d rather keep hidden. Letty Mae searches for what it means to be a female over 50 when the new century’s reality does not fit your worldview. Luckily, she has a guide in the form of an elite bisexual patriarch who must, in the end, die.
