Author Bio:
John and Tania Albrecht have over 10 years of respite caregiving experience, helping families in their caregiving journeys. Their work began when Tania’s mother developed early-onset Alzheimer’s, and later deepened with John’s mother’s diagnosis of late-onset dementia. These personal experiences, combined with years of hands-on caregiving, shaped their mission to help others navigate the challenges of dementia care with confidence and compassion.
They write to equip fellow caregivers with practical tools for communication, behavior management, and creating dementia-friendly environments—always with a focus on dignity, empathy, and supporting the caregiver’s well-being.
Outside of caregiving, they enjoy family time, nature walks with their dogs Charlie and Freedom, and lifelong passions: Tania’s 25+ years in bird rescue while John, in his career as an artist, has created more than 500 oil paintings over the past 50 years, many of them featuring birds.
