Nan Prodan was born in Chicago, Illinois. She is of first-generation Croatian descent. Her father, Emil Prodan, came to the United States in 1922 at the age of twelve via Ellis Island. She attributes her wit and storytelling abilities to him.
Nan’s writing career began forty years ago, while she was working for her husband’s company. Her position as sales manager and marketing manager gave her experience in writing copy for sales brochures, training manuals, and advertising articles. Nan also wrote poems and short stories in her late teens.
She and her husband, Jim, have spent 25 years on their sportfishing boat traveling the Florida coasts, the Bahamas, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Those experiences and people she met became Nan’s best material for her books.
