Forever Striking A Crucified Pose, is a collection of short stories and poems in the style many refer as “dirty realism”. The fictional stories show an excellent understanding of pacing and dialogue. The book offers a thought-provoking, honest, and oft times cynical portrayals of characters as they navigate life through hardships, heartbreak, loss, redemption, as they try to understand and justify their behavior in the world in which they exist.
Raymond Carver, one of my favorite short story authors once described himself and his writing as being “inclined toward brevity and intensity”.
This is the approach I take when writing short stories.
Born and raised in Arkansas, I have always had a love for classical literature, history, psychology, and other disciplines. Reading at a college level when I was 6 years of age, I have read thousands of books and led me to study both literature and psychology in college because I believe as a writer both subjects complement each other. After school, I joined the USMC, and after the Marine’s worked for various organizations mostly within the non-profit sector helping thousands of the homeless and disenfranchised find housing, hope, or help.
I am married to my best friend and am living in North West Arkansas where I’m working on several other writing projects.
