Death Knock 2: The Woman In The Water

About Death Knock 2: The Woman In The Water:

Death Knock 2: The Woman in the WaterShe thought the worst was twelve years behind her. She was wrong.Detective Sergeant Mara Quinn has spent twelve years trying to outrun 2011 – the case that cost her everything, the question she was ordered to stop asking. She thought she’d finally put it to rest. Then a woman’s body surfaces in Harrow Creek, one hand curled toward the far bank, wearing a ring unlike anything the local jewellers have ever seen. And the name on the file – Eleanor Vance – is enough to unravel everything Mara thought she’d survived. As Mara and Constable Ryan Beckett dig into a life built almost entirely out of secrets, they uncover a woman who wasn’t remotely who she seemed – and someone determined that the truth stay buried with her. Every answer leads to another door closed in their faces. Every witness has more to lose than they’re willing to say. And the deeper Mara goes, the clearer it becomes: Eleanor Vance didn’t just die.She was silenced.Set once more in the fog-shrouded Dandenong Ranges, The Woman in the Water is a gripping standalone mystery and the electrifying sequel to Death Knock – a thriller about the debts a decade never stops collecting, the secrets women keep to survive, and a detective who must decide how far she’ll go to ask the question that ended her career once already.Perfect for readers who can’t get enough of atmospheric Australian crime fiction – dark, twisty, and impossible to put down.

Author Bio:

Casey Jax is a Melbourne-based writer who has spent a lifetime wandering the mist-covered hills, fern gullies, and winding village roads of the Dandenong Ranges.

The mountains have always felt like home. Long before a story existed to set there, the Dandenongs were a place Sage returned to again and again – for the smell of wet eucalyptus after rain, a glimpse of a lyrebird at dawn, for the particular warmth of a tea room window glowing through fog, for the sense that every bend in the road leads somewhere worth finding. A wedding in Sherbrooke only deepened the attachment.

The Death Knock series is the realisation of a long-held dream: to write a story that lives and breathes in the landscape that has shaped so much of Casey’s own.
