Author Bio:

Wendy Haynes is an Australian author who completed a Diploma in Creative Writing at Southern Cross University. Her writing focuses on middle-grade fantasy, historical, and contemporary stories for children, picture books, junior fiction, and nonfiction for kids.

Publishing books since 2019, Wendy loves to entertain children and draw them to stories. Wendy is currently working on a 12-book series for children 7-9 years old that offers mystery and magic. Stay tuned.

Wendy plans to also write thrillers set in Australia, featuring a team of detectives searching for a different missing person in each book.

Her first picture book, Hayden’s Bedtime, was published in March 2019 and is on the 2019 NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge list.

Her first middle-grade book, Saving Hollow Woods: Book 1 in The Door in the Woods Series, is fantasy fiction, published in August 2020, and it is also on the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge List. Apprentice of the Stones, Book 2 in The Door in the Woods series was published in January 2025.

Her next picture book – Playing in Puddles was published in May 2025.

She was one of the judges for the CYA Competition for 2019. Wendy won first prize for her short story Going Nowhere, at Port Writers In-house competition 2018.She enjoys helping and motivating writers and offers writing workshops and publishing services.

She has volunteered as President, Vice President, and Treasurer of Port Writers Inc, a not for profit local writing group. Wendy is taking a deep dive into her family history, and learning to play the piano.

Inprint Publishing is a business Wendy established to build a brand for her own publishing needs, and to help authors through the publishing process.
