The author is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley with a degree in English literature. During the summer of 1973 the author befriended the late Dore Freeman, fifty-year employee at MGM studios Culver City California. Mr. Freeman was head of the Publicity Stills Department at the studio until his death in 1988. During their fifteen-year friendship, the author was given unprecedented access to studio records and files concerning the life and career of actress Jean Harlow. The Girl From Missouri is the result of that friendship.
