Dr. Ava Cooper has it all. Scratch that, she had it all. Until her husband left her. If only that was all she’d lost. After the death of her infant daughter, Ava’s life spiraled down into a life she no longer recognized. There was nothing of her old life left by the time her ex-husband walked out on her – except for one thing – she was still a doctor. Leaving her old life behind, she moves the coast of North Carolina, where she meets a baby in the foster care system that could change everything. Will Ava be able to let hope in long enough to get back the life she so desperately longs for?
“In a stroke of sheer genius, or maybe it’s a sign of a quickly approaching mental breakdown, I left D.C. seven and a half hours ago and headed toward the coast of North Carolina, with the pain of a secret dream’s loss, taking up the most space in my truck. Besides my personal effects and the furniture I brought into my marriage, I left everything else to my ex-husband and his Legislative Assistant.”

Elaina Avalos has been writing stories since she was a child – her first was a compelling tale about a popped balloon. It was a masterpiece (for a 1st grader). While writing is one of her passions, her vocation is working with military families. Her life has taken her from Orange County, California where she grew up, to the Washington, D.C. area, to the high desert of California, and North Carolina. She lives in Eastern North Carolina, with a very bossy boxer mix and a finicky lemon tree named Mr. Pibb. The twists and turns of her path have given her much to write about and helped her already active imagination.
Random things about Elaina: She is fond of Don Henley, pine trees, and sentence fragments. She loves her dog, cooking, Jesus & wine. But not necessarily in that order.
