A young girl with powerful magic abilities that she never asked for, is thrust through a terrifying tragedy which takes from her everything she has ever loved or held dear. From this she is cast out into a unknown unforgiving reality, with nothing, and no understanding of why she is. To keep a promise to the one she once held most dear, she refuses to give into the desire to give up and fade away as difficulties arise in front of her, and so she pushes on to find who she is and her place in everything.
Along the way friends are made, with some only tentatively so, but they grow a bound that becomes akin to that of family. Where they protect each other. Worry for each other. Most of all they come to care for each other more closely that any passing strangers ever should be able to. They all want to find their place in the world, and they want to do it together.
This is only the beginning of the story. The first book of a series that is still in the making. The forging of the name.
DB is no one of importance, known for no great achievement, and not extraordinary in anything. That is in exception to their fascination with the art of storytelling. Ever since childhood, every game played their siblings, every fib told to their parents, everything was practice to make their ability to tell stories grander, more capable of enchanting the audience to believe, or want to believe in the fiction’s truth. DB’s only quote held is “The story is more important than the teller.”
